I want a stewards enquiry! Meeting Carolyn at the race start, she promised that it would be run at the London Marathon pace of 6.47 per mile. I agreed this was a good tactic, but also revealed that "I've got a chance of beating you in a race for the first time". I put in a final effort at 8k, but Carolyn suddenly upped the ante and finished in 40.43 (6.33 pace). I followed in her wake in 41.07 (6.37 pace). Trevor finished in 38.48 even though he tried to run it comfortably. Our record breaking married couple are both in excellent form, and ready to unleash their fitness at the London Marathon on Sunday. Kate Evans also had a good run despite the hills and hot weather, coming in at a very respectable 52.46, and earning herself 45 points as the Striders second lady. John McNally
