Paris in the springtime saw 10 Striders taking to the streets of the French capital on Sunday for the marathon where neither the warm sunshine nor a tumble after 20 miles could deter Mike Ellis from setting a new club record of 2:44:22 and 240th place in a field of over 30000. Dawn Clark also scored a PB for 82nd place in 3:16:55 as did Nick Adams, 3:18:38 and Michelle Clements, 3:31:21 just pipping Esther Wollaston in 3:31:26. Next home was Pete Schofield in 4:00:49, followed by Helen Tudge, 4:07:40 on her marathon debut for a club age category record, then Richard Brookes, 4:20:27, John McNally 4:22:08 and Sandra Stokes 4:48:41 also in her 1st marathon.
With most of the remainder of the club otherwise engaged on marshalling duties, three token Striders took part in the biggest Regency 10k yet with Nick Hargrave finishing in 42:16 followed by Jill Ibberson, 47:51 and Bina Paul 62:53. Guest Paul Okey, made a very creditable 10K debut in a time of 43:47. Finally in the latest event of the Coventry Parks 5K series, Richie Merrill posted his best time so far, 17:28 for 9th position
