The long winter’s training for forthcoming marathons is showing in Striders latest results. Clare Hinton knocked 6 minutes off her PB to record 1:37:51 at the Milton Keynes Half. Chris McCarthy also had a PB at Bath Half in 1:21:44 followed by Rich Sykes 1:37:26 with Bethan Gwynn and Tony Holt finishing together in 1:41:09. At Silverstone Half, both Trevor and Carolyn Wilkinson recorded PBs in 1:22:31 (for 19th place) and 1:26:34, (for 1st FV40) respectively, the latter a new club record with Nick Adams finishing in 1:33:04 followed by Roy Rogers 1:42:16 and Helen Tudge in 1:50:57, another PB. Mike Ellis was 14th overall in the Banbury 15 in another excellent time of 1:30:58 followed by Tim Stooks, 1:51:27, Richard Bicknell 1:56:28, Dawn Clark 1:56:36, Lucy Burnett 1:57:43, Esther Wollaston 1:58:47, Jonathan Wallis 2:00:46, Pete Schofield 2:04:24, John McNally 2:06:51, Hayley French 2:09:00, Richard King 2:09:05, Amanda May 2:09:11 and Richard Brookes 2:12:24. Stuart Mead meanwhile went to the East Midlands to take part in the world’s first metric marathon, the English Kilomathon from Nottingham to Derby to finish in 15th place and 3rd MV40 in a time of 1:40:13. Finally 3 Striders took part in the Shakespeare Raceway 10K with Nadine Fleckenstein coming home in 44:00 followed by Jackie Lindsay in an age category club record 45:07 and brother Dave in 46:05.
