On the bright, but decidedly nippy, morning of 18th October Jill Ibberson and I were two of over 800 runners taking part in the 20th anniversary running of the popular Pattingham Bells Run; a 7 mile off-road, multi-terrain race.
Expectations were set low early on, as we were seemingly mistaken for local celebrities by the Express & Star hacks scouring the starting pen for the latest salacious gossip. They have subsequently discovered the wholesome, clean living individuals we are as we didn’t make the final cut on to the papers website. Our brush with fame out the way, it was time to get down to business and seven challenging and hilly miles later we crossed the finish. Me in a time of 52:34 and Jill in 55:45, taking some 2 minutes off her previous best effort. At the finish we also bumped in to Strider Mick Stevenson who finished in a time of 1:02:41. |
